The Hang Seng has plunged 195 points to 12,936.
The Taiwan Weighted index has dropped 59 points to 4,977. The Straits Times index is down four points at 1,580, while the Seoul Composite index is up five points at 1,167.
The Shanghai Composite index is down eight points at 2,258.
