Asian markets up; Nikkei up 64pts

Asian markets are up this morning following a recovery on the Wall Street.

The Hang Seng has surged 371 points to 22,673. The Nikkei has moved up 64 points to 12,498.

The Taiwan Weighted index has rallied 65 points to 8,276. The Straits Times index has advanced 42 points to 2,847, and the Seoul Composite index has added three points to 1,618.

The Shanghai Composite index, however, is down 13 points at 3,958.
