Auction sees demand for select coffee varieties

Domestic roasters offered support to select Arabica Plantation and Robusta Cherry coffees on sale at Indian Coffee Trade Association (ICTA) coffee auction on Thursday.
 
According to auctioners Carritt Moran and Company, Thursday's auction witnessed selective demand, with prices being highly irregular, varying on the basis of quality.
 
Of the 259 metric tonne offered for sale (last week 319 tonne) only 53 tonne were sold (last week 80 tonne). Of the stock on sale, Arabica comprised 196 tonne (last week 202 tonne) and Robusta 63 tonne (last week 117 tonne).
 
Following are the prices quoted for grades in Rs/50kg:
 
Arabica varieties: Arabica Parchment PB Rs 4,441 (quantity sold 8,450 kg). Arabica Parchment AA Rs 4,585 (540 kg), Arabica Parchment A Rs 4,735 (24,969 kg), Arabica Parchment B Rs 4,200 (133 kg), Arabica Parchment C Rs 3,800 (1,154 kg), Arabica Cherry PB Rs 3,500 (1,300 kg), Arabica Cherry AB Rs 3,540 (2,500 kg), Arabica Cherry A Rs 3,700 (1,000 kg), Arabica Cherry BBB Rs 2,435 (2,781 kg).
 
Robusta varieties: Robusta Cherry PB Rs 2,381 (649 kg), Robusta Cherry AA Rs 2,586 (3,854 kg), Robusta Cherry AB Rs 2,803 (4,940 kg), Robusta Cherry C Rs 2,300 (292 kg), Robusta Cherry BBB Rs 2,200 (307 kg).
