Auto, power stocks firm

The Sensex, which crossed the 6,670 levels shortwhile ago, is now up 59 points at 6,662 as buying remains steady in select heavyweight and tech stocks. Auto and power stocks continue to attract buying support.

Reliance, with a volume of over 12.17 lakh on the BSE, has advanced 1.51% (Rs 8) to Rs 542. ITC and HLL are still trading on a flat note at Rs 1,311 and Rs 144, respectively.

Reliance Energy, on sustained buying support, has flared up 6.79% (Rs 36) to Rs 560. While BHEL is up 1.69% (Rs 13) at Rs 783, Tata Power has gained 1.68% (Rs 7) to Rs 397.

Hero Honda has jumped 3.41% (Rs 19) to Rs 591. While Tata Motors, on a volume of over 9.24 lakh, has surged 2.94% (Rs 15) to Rs 520, Maruti has moved up 2% (Rs 9) to Rs 471.

Bharati continues to trade with sharp gains, and has shot up 4.20% (Rs 9) to Rs 225. The counter has clocked a volume of over 3.93 lakh on the BSE.

Infosys is up a per cent (Rs 18) at Rs 2,107. Other tech majors are up with modest gains.

ONGC has logged 1.46% gains (Rs 12) to Rs 832.

Petronet LNG has zoomed 19.94% (Rs 6) to Rs 38. While Morepen Lab has surged 19.94% (Rs 2) to Rs 13, Man Industries has flared up 17/92% to Rs 101.

Reliance is leading the value chart with a turnover of Rs 65 crore, followed by SBI (Rs 48 crore), Tata Motors (Rs 47 crore), Tisco (Rs 41 crore) and Maruti (Rs 20 crore), respectively.
