<b>Back above 19K:</b> Sensex up 269pts

The Sensex exhibited high volatility in early trades. After opening with a positive gap of 53 points at 18,824, the index tumbled into red to a low of 18,630. The index rebounded sharply and rallied to a high of 19,047 - up 417 points from the day's low.

The index is now up 269 points at 19,040.

Reliance Energy and Tata Steel have surged over 3% each to Rs 1,699 and Rs 1,020, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro and ACC have gained 2.3% each at Rs 3,537 and Rs 1,085, respectively.

Reliance has rallied nearly 2% to Rs 2,678. BHEL and SBI have moved up 1.7% each to Rs 2,330 and Rs 1,977, respectively.

NTPC, ONGC and Mahindra & Mahindra are up around 1.5% each at Rs 227, Rs 1,131 and Rs 784, respectively.

Hindustan Unilever and Dr.Reddy's have slipped over 1% each to Rs 218 and Rs 607, respectively.
