Bajaj Auto dips post June sales numbers

June 2012 sales dipped by 6% at 3,45,162 units against 3,66,657 in the same month last year

Bajaj Auto is trading lower by 1.1% at Rs 1,555 after reporting decline in vehicle sales second month in a row. The country’s second largest two-wheeler maker’s monthly sales for June 2012 dipped by 6% at 3,45,162 units against 3,66,657 in the same month last year.

“The exports for the month too, declined 18% and the numbers of units sold were 1,16,062 units against 1,42,124 in the same period last year,” Bajaj Auto said in a filing.

For May 2012, the company had reported 2% year-on-year fall in total sales at 3,52,219 units against 3,58,849 in the same month last year. “Three-wheeler sales to Sri Lanka and Egypt were disrupted; and will normalize from July onwards,” the company said.

 

The stock opened at Rs 1,572 and hit a low of Rs 1,552 on the Bombay Stock Exchange. A combined around 10,000 shares have changed hands on the counter so far.
