Bajaj Auto skids on weak February sales

The stock dipped nearly 5% to Rs 2,062, its lowest level since August 2014 on BSE.

Bajaj Auto has dipped nearly 5% at Rs 2,062, its lowest level since August 2014 on BSE, after reporting a 22% year on year (yoy) decline in total sales in February at 243,319 units as against 313,294 units posted in the same month last year.

Motorcycles sales were down by 21% at 216,077 units in February this year as compared to 273,323 units in the same month last year, Bajaj Auto said in a statement.

The commercial vehicles sales, too declined 32% at 27,242 units in February 2015 as against 39,971 units in February 2014, it added.

The stock opened at Rs 2,161 and touched a high of Rs 2,204 on BSE before the announcement of February sales numbers. Till 1133 hours, a combined 391,819 shares changed hands on the counter on BSE and NSE.
