The Sensex is exhibiting lacklustre and is now down 12 points at 8,415. Earlier in the day, the index opened 46 points higher at 8,473, and touched a high of 8,485, before slipping to a low of 8,373.
Banking stocks are witnessing fresh selling. HDFC has plunged over 4% to Rs 1,150. ICICI Bank has shed 2.6% at Rs 289, and SBI is down nearly 1% at Rs 967.
BHEL has dropped over 2% to Rs 1,335. Sun Pharma has slipped over 1% to Rs 959.
Metal stocks, however, continue to display firm trend. The BSE Metal index has gained 2% at 4,513.
Hindaclo has surged 3.3% to Rs 39. Sterlite has gained 3% at Rs 245, and Tata Steel has added 1.5% to Rs 158.
Reliance Infrastructure has rallied over 3% to Rs 452. TCS and ONGC have moved up 2.3% each to Rs 456 and Rs 663, respectively.
Grasim, Jaiprakash Associates and ACC have advanced around 1.8% each to Rs 1,387, Rs 64 and Rs 539, respectively.
The market breadth is marginally negative - out of 2,198 stocks traded so far, 1,207 have declined and 870 are unchanged.

The Sensex has recovered from a low of 8,376, and is now flat 8,425 - down two points. Earlier in the day, the index had opened 46 points higher at 8,473, and touched a high of 8,485.
Metal stocks are firm today. The BSE Metal index has gained 2% at 4,513.
Hindaclo has surged over 3% to Rs 39. Sterlite has gained 2.8% at Rs 245. Tata Steel is up 1% at Rs 158.
ACC and TCS have rallied 2.5% each to Rs 543 and Rs 456, respectively. Grasim has added 2.3% to Rs 1,393.
Reliance Infrastructure has moved up 1.5% to Rs 446. ONGC, Ranbaxy and Jaiprakash Associates are up around 1.5% each at Rs 659, Rs 160 and Rs 64, respectively.
Sun Pharma has declined 1.3% to Rs 959. Tata Power, Reliance and Bharti Airtel are down 1% each at Rs 658, Rs 1,187 and Rs 595, respectively.

The Sensex opened 46 points higher at 8,473, and touched a high of 8,485 in early trades. The index, however, slipped into red and is now down 25 points at 8,402.
ACC has surged nearly 3% to Rs 546. Sterlite has gained 2.3% at Rs 244.
TCS has moved up 1.5% to Rs 452. Grasim and Hindalco are up 1% each at Rs 1,378 and Rs 38, respectively.
Tata Power has rallied over 3% to Rs 645.
Reliance and Sun Pharma have slipped around 1.5% each to Rs 1,181 and Rs 958, respectively.
Bharti Airtel has declined 1.3% to Rs 594. Infosys and NTPC are down 1% each at Rs 1,185 and Rs 177, respectively.

Sterlite has surged nearly 3% to Rs 245. ACC has gained 2.5% at Rs 544.
Ranbaxy has rallied over 2% to Rs 161. ICICI Bank, Mahindra & Mahindra and Reliance Infrastructure have moved up 2% each to Rs 302, Rs 319 and Rs 446, respectively.
Jaiprakash Associates has advanced 1.8% to Rs 64. Hindalco, Tata Steel, ONGC, HDFC Bank and Tata Motors are up around 1.5% each.
