Bargain hunting lifts Wall St; ADRs gain

The Wall Street ended up bouncing sharply from the day's low on the back of bargain hunting at lower levels. The Dow Industrial Average index rallied 401 points to 8,979. The Nasdaq gained 89 points at 1,718.

The Indian ADRs, too, ended with smart gains. ICICI Bank, MTNL and Dr.Reddy's surged around 12% each to $17.10, $3.21 and $9.23, respectively.  Infosys, Sterlite, Wipro, Patni Computers and HDFC Bank gained 4-8% each.

On the other hand, Tata Communications plunged over 8% to $18.40. Tata Motors dropped 4.3% to $5.75, and Genpact slipped 2.3% to $7.57.
