Barley futures decline on selling

Barley futures prices went down by Rs 3.40, or 0.30 per cent, to Rs 1,124 per quintal in futures trade today on selling pressure from traders in line with weak spot market sentiment.

Marketmen said increased arrivals and reduced offtake by beer makers in spot markets, pulled down the futures prices. 

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange platform, barley prices for the delivery in July-month contract slipped by Rs 3.40, or 0.30 per cent, to Rs 1,124 per quintal, with an open interest of 17,010 lots.

The August-month contract lost by Rs 1.60 to Rs 1,141.20 per quintal, with an open interest of 4,660 lots.
