Barley prices remained weak and lost Rs 7.20 or 0.70 per cent to Rs 1,024 per quintal in futures trade today driven by falling trend in spot markets.
Marketmen said, poor demand from beer and cattle-feed makers along with heavy supply from growing regions mainly held barley futures in red zone.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, barley prices for current-month May contract shed Rs 7.20 or 0.70 per cent to Rs 1,024 per quintal, with an open interest of 6,920 lots.
June-month contract also fell by Rs 6.60 or 0.63 per cent to Rs 1,043 per quintal, with an open interest of 10,390 lots.
