Barley prices fell by Rs 5.20 to Rs 1,255 per quintal in futures trade today on an increased selling in line with a weak spot market sentiment.

Rising stock positions and slack demand from beer and cattle feed makers in physical markets, weighed on the futures trading.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, barley prices for October-month contract dipped by Rs 5.20, or 0.41 per cent, to Rs 1,255 per quintal, with an open interest of 14,170 lots.

Near November-month contract also eased by Rs 2.40, or 0.19 per cent, to Rs 1,278 per quintal, with an open interest of 3,080 lots.
