Barley futures prices turned weak by losing Rs 36.40 to Rs 1,114.80 per quintal in future trade today following profit booking by traders at prevailing higher levels.

Market analysts said apart from profit booking, increased supply at higher levels, amid reduced offtake by alcohol making industries in physical markets pulled down barley prices.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, barley price for delivery in April declined by Rs 36 or 3.16 per cent, to Rs 1,114.80 per quintal, with an open interest of 910 lots.

Current March-month delivery contract also eased by Rs 6.20, or 0.48 per cent, to Rs 1,296 per quintal, showing an open interest of 3,580 lots.
