Barley futures gain on fresh buying

Barley prices rose by Rs 9 or 0.84 per cent to Rs 1,074.80 per quintal in futures trade today on fresh buying by traders.

Marketmen said short covering by traders pushed up barley prices.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, barley prices for July contract went up Rs 9 or 0.84 per cent to Rs 1,074.80 per quintal, with an open interest of 56 lots.

Current June-month contract delivery also moved up by Rs 1.60 or 0.15 per cent to Rs 1,049.60 per quintal, with an open interest of 138 lots.
