Barley futures looks up on fresh buying

Barley prices rose by Rs 4.60 to Rs 1,146 per quintal in futures trade today on emergence of buying by traders in tandem with short supply and better demand in physical markets.

Marketmen said restricted supply and rising demand in spot markets, influenced trading sentiments here in futures barley trade. 

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, barley price for the delivery of this month advanced by Rs 4.60, or 0.40 per cent, to Rs 1,146 per quintal, clocking an open interest of 12,700 lots.

September-month contract also gained by Rs 3.60, or 0.31 per cent to Rs 1,165 per quintal, with an open interest of 4,440 lots.
