Barley futures prices recovered by Rs 20 to Rs 1,230 per quintal today on fresh buying by traders in tandem with short supplies and better demand in physical markets.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, barley price for delivery in March rose by Rs 13, or 1.15 per cent, to Rs 1,139 per quintal, clocking an open interest of 260 lots.

Market analysts said apart from restricted supplies and rising demand in spot markets, short covering by traders after yesterday's sell-off, mainly influenced trading sentiments here in future trade of barley.
