Barley futures recover on short covering

Barley prices improved by Rs 18.60 to Rs 1,458.80 per quintal in futures trade today as traders picked up consignments at lower levels.

Marketmen said after the sell-off over the past couple of days, traders purchased consignments of the commodity at existing lower levels.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, barley for July contract delivery increased by Rs 18.60, or 1.29%, to Rs 1,458.80 per quintal with an open interest for 1,090 lots. 

June contract barley also advanced by Rs 18.20, or 1.27%, to Rs 1,447 per quintal with an open interest for 12,550 lots.
