Barley prices slipped by Rs 6.20 or 0.59 per cent to Rs 1,050.40 per quintal in futures trade today on profit booking by traders at higher levels.

Marketmen said increased supply and reduced offtake by beer and cattle-feed makers at existing higher prices in physical markets put pressure on futures trade.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, barley prices for July-month contract dipped by Rs 6.20 or 0.59 per cent to Rs 1,050.40 per quintal, with an open interest of 2,600 lots.

The May-month contract also went down by Rs 3 or 0.29 per cent to Rs 1,020 per quintal, with an open interest of 5,340 lots.
