Press Trust of India New Delhi

Barley prices slipped by Rs 15.80 to Rs 1,157 per quintal in the futures trading today following increased selling by traders, driven by weak spot market cues.

Market analysts said increased supply and reduced offtake in physical markets mainly put weighed on barley futures prices.

Sluggish demand from the beer making industries, also influenced the trading sentiments, they added.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, barley for delivery in April fell by Rs 15.80, or 1.35 per cent, to Rs 1,157 per quintal, with an open interest of 2,840 lots.

Likewise, barley prices for delivery in March went down by Rs 6.20, or 0.49 per cent, to Rs 1,255.20 per quintal, clocking a business turnover of 1,070 lots.
