Barley prices plummeted by Rs 22.80 to Rs 1,226.60 per quintal in futures trading today following profit-booking at prevailing higher levels.
Marketmen said profit selling at higher levels and lower spot markets cue mainly led to a fall in barley prices.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, barley prices for March-month contract plunged by Rs 22.80, or 1.98 per cent, to Rs 1,226.60 per quintal, with an open interest of 90 lots.
Most-active November month contract also tumbled by same margins of Rs 22.80, or 1.81 per cent, to Rs 1,234 per quintal, with an open interest of 10,640 lots.
