Barley prices moved up by Rs 28.60 to Rs 1,498.80 per quintal in futures trading today following brisk buying along with strong spot markets cue.
Market analysts said frantic buying by beer and cattle-feed making industries against reduced supply in physical markets, boosted the trading sentiments.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, barley for delivery in July rose by Rs 28.60, or 1.95% to Rs 1,498.80 per quintal, with an open interest of 370 lots.
Barley for May delivery gained Rs 14.20, or 0.99% to Rs 1,442 per quintal, with an open interest of 7,500 lots
Likewise, prices for delivery in June moved up by Rs 12.40, or 0.85% to Rs 1,471.60 per quintal, with a business turnover of 8,590 lots.
