Barley futures up on fresh buying

Barley improved by Rs 14.60 to Rs 1,505 per quintal in futures trade today following fresh buying by speculators driven by a firm spot markets sentiment.

Market analysts said strong demand from beer and cattle-feed making industries against fall in supply in physical markets mainly dampened the trading sentiment in futures market here.  

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, barley for delivery in June rose by Rs 14.60, or 0.98% to Rs 1,505 per quintal, with an open interest of 10,690 lots.

Similarly, barley for delivery in May went up by Rs 13.60, or 0.93% to Rs 1,476 per quintal, with an open interest of 6,110 lots.
