Barley prices rose by Rs 11.20 to Rs 1,123 per quintal in future trading today on buying by traders at prevailing lower levels.
Market analysts said after decline in prices for the past few days, traders preferred to build up new positions at prevailing low levels.
Strong demand from alcohol and cattle-feed making industries also helped to boosted the trading sentiments to some extent, they added.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, barley for delivery in April rose Rs 11.20, or 1.01 per cent, to Rs 1,123 per quintal, with an open interest of 4,440 lots.
Likewise, barley prices for delivery in May went up by Rs 10.20, or 0.90 per cent, to Rs 1,147.40 per quintal, with an open interest of 5,410 lots.
