Barley futures up on renewed buying

Barley prices gained by Rs 7.40, or 0.66 per cent to Rs 1,129 per quintal, in futures trade today after renewed buying by traders in line with firm spot market sentiment.

Marketmen said buying by traders against fall in supply at physical markets led to a rise here in futures prices of barley.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, barley prices for July-month contract climbed by Rs 7.40, or 0.66 per cent to Rs 1,129 per quintal, with an open interest of 5,680 lots.

June-month contract delivery too quoted higher by Rs 5.20, or 0.47 per cent to Rs 1,110.40 per quintal, with an open interest of 15,460 lots.
