Barley prices dipped by Rs 19.20 to Rs 1,120 per quintal in futures trading today following mounting stocks amid sluggish demand in physical markets.
Marketmen said increased arrivals and reduced offtake by alcohol and cattle feed makers in spot markets put pressure here in futures trade.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, barley for March-month contract fell by Rs 19.20, or 1.69 per cent to Rs.1,120 per quintal, with an open interest of 260 lots.
April month contract also declined by Rs 2.40 or 0.23 per cent to Rs 1,050 per quintal, with an open interest of 250 lots.
