Barley up on fresh buying

Barley futures prices today rose by Rs 27.50 to Rs 1,578.50 per quintal, following fresh buying by traders on firming spot market sentiment.

Marketmen said fall in supply and pick-up in demand in physical markets, mainly attributed the rise here in future price of barley.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, barley prices for March delivery hardened by Rs 27.50, or 1.77%, to Rs 1,578.50 per quintal, with an open interest of 2,360 lots.

May prices rose by Rs 3.50, or 0.22%, to Rs 1,577 per quintal, with an open interest of 2,180 lots.
