Barring aluminium, most of the base metals dropped at the non-ferrous metal market here today due to subdued industrial demand as well as stockists selling following weakening trend in global markets.

On the other hand, aluminium rose owing to better offtake from consumer industries. The industrial metals edged lower at the LME on concerns over weak manufacturing data from US and China, indicating slowing global economy.

Tin, nickel and copper sheets cutting dipped by Rs 5 per kg each to Rs 1,460, Rs 1,240 and Rs 447 from Monday's closing level of Rs 1,465, Rs 1,240 and Rs 447, respectively.

Lead fell by Rs 4 per kg to Rs 120 as against Rs 124 previously.

Copper armiture and copper utensils scrap both moved down by Rs 2 per kg each to Rs 454 and Rs 427, respectively. Copper cable scrap, copper wire bar, brass sheets cutting and zinc all softened by a rupee per kg each to Rs 476, Rs 504, Rs 319 and Rs 127, respectively.

However, aluminium ingots shot up by Rs 4 per kg to Rs 135 as compared to Rs 131 yesterday.
