Base metals end mixed on thin trade

Base metals prices ended narrowly mixed at the non-ferrous metal market here today despite a firming trend on the London Metal Exchange (LME).

Nickel, zinc and brass sheet cutting firmed up on better demand from industrial users.

Meanwhile, aluminium, copper and brass utensils scrap declined due to lower offtake from consumer industries.

Nickel rose by Rs 5 per kilo to Rs 1,130 from yesterday's closing level of Rs 1,125 and zinc moved up by Rs 2 per kilo to Rs 126, as against Rs 124 previously.

Brass sheet cutting also inched up by a rupee per kilo to Rs 265.

However, aluminium utensils scrap fell be Rs 4 per kilo to Rs 90 from overnight closing level of Rs 94.

Brass utensils scrap edged down by Rs 2 per kilo to Rs 255 from Rs 254.

Copper scrap heavy and copper armiture both softened by a rupee per kilo to Rs 379 and Rs 366.
