Base metal prices fell up to Rs 3 per kg in the local non-ferrous metal market today on selling by stockists influenced by a weakening global trend.

Selling in base metals gathered momentum as copper in London dropped as manufacturing in China, the world's largest user, shrank to the lowest level since February 2009.

Meanwhile, copper for three-month declined by 0.9% to $9,345 and nickel by 1% to $23,200 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange (LME).

In additions, fall in industrial demand at prevailing higher levels further fueled the downtrend in base metals.

In the national capital, copper wire scrap, copper wire bar and copper mixed scrap were remained weak and shed another Rs 2 each to Rs 501, Rs 524 and Rs 484, while nickel (4x4) lost Rs 3 to Rs 1,040-1,042 per kg, respectively.

Tin ingot and zinc ingot declined by Rs 1 each to Rs 840 and Rs 129.50, while lead ingot and lead imported traded lower by the same margin to Rs 140 and Rs 143 per kg, respectively.

Following were today's quotations per kg:
