Base metals moves up on firm global cues

Base metal prices led by copper, surged up to Rs 10 per kg on the non-ferrous metal market today on brisk buying by stockists, driven by a rally in base metals in global markets on China's manufactures data.

Traders said brisk buying by stockists in line with a firm trend overseas on China's economic growth mainly pushed up base metal prices.

On the London Metal Exchange, copper rose by 1.3 per cent to $8,118.75, nickel by 1.1 per cent to $23,655 and zinc added 1.4 per cent to $2,225 a metric tonne.

In the national capital, copper wire scrap, copper wire bar and copper mixed scrap were up by Rs 5 each to Rs 411, Rs 430 and Rs 391 per kg respectively.

 

Tin ingot gained Rs 5 to Rs 810, while nickel(4x4) up by Rs 10 to Rs 963-967 per kg. Zinc ingot, lead ingot and lead imported were enquired higher by Rs 2 each to Rs 121.50, Rs 125 and Rs 127 per kg.
