Base metal prices recovered by up to Rs 3 per kg in the local non-ferrous metal market today on increased industrial demand amid firming trend at London Metal Exchange.
Sentiments turned better as copper climbed in global markets on optimism that China's economy is maintaining momentum after data showed industrial output grew even as the government took steps to curb rising prices.
Meanwhile, copper for three-month delivery gained 0.7% to $8,978 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
In the national capital, copper wire scrap, copper wire bar and copper mixed scrap were up by Rs 2 each to Rs 506, Rs 529 and Rs 489, respectively, while nickel (4x4) followed suit and gained Rs 3 to Rs 1,058-1,060 per kg.
Zinc ingot, lead ingot and lead imported traded higher by rupee one each to Rs 133.50, Rs 142 and Rs 145 per kg, respectively.
