Base metals recover on increased demand, global cues

Copper and nickel regained strength to trade up to Rs 5 per kg higher in the wholesale non-ferrous metals market today, supported by pick up in industrial demand amid firming trend overseas.

Sentiment turned slightly better after the entire base metals strengthened in line with a firming trend in overseas markets after a weak dollar raised commodities appeal as an alternative investment.

Besides, pick up in demand from consuming industries also influenced the select base metals.

In the national capital, copper wire scrap, copper wire bar and copper mixed scrap traded Rs 2 each higher at Rs 403, Rs 422 and Rs 383, while nickel (4x4) by Rs 5 to Rs 945-949 per kg, respectively.
