Base metal prices rose up to Rs 5 per kg on the local non-ferrous metal market today on increased industrial demand amid firming trend at the London Metal Exchange (LME).
Traders said increased industrial demand along with firming trend at the LME, mainly led to the rise in base metal prices.
Meanwhile, copper for three-month-delivery gained 0.3% to $9,444.50 and nickel by 1.4% to $26,170 a tonne at the LME.
In the national capital, copper wire scrap, copper wire bar and copper mixed scrap were up by Rs 2 each to Rs 510, Rs 533 and Rs 494 per kg, respectively.
Nickel (4x4) followed suit and traded higher by Rs 5 to Rs 1072-1074 per kg.
Zinc ingot, lead ingot and lead imported also went higher by Re 1 each to Rs 132.50, Rs 140 and Rs 142 per kg, respectively.
