Base metals rise on robust industrial offtake

Base metals prices continued to trade higher at the non-ferrous metal market here today due to sustained industrial demand amid stockists buying, aided by bullish trend on the London Metal Exchange (LME).

Meanwhile, aluminium prices moved down on fall in demand from consumer industries.

Tin hardened further by Rs 15 per kilo to Rs 1,290 from overnight closing level of Rs 1,275 and copper armiture by Rs 6 per kilo to Rs 390, as against Rs 384 yesterday.

Nickel, copper cable scrap and copper wire bar, all rose by Rs 5 per kilo each to Rs 1,165, Rs 408 and Rs 436, respectively, from Rs 1,160 Rs 403 and Rs 431 previously.

Copper utensils scrap, copper sheets cutting and brass sheets cutting moved up by Rs 3 per kilo to Rs 368, Rs 382 and Rs 278, respectively.

Copper scrap heavy edged up by Rs 2 per kilo to Rs 399 and lead inched up by a rupee per kilo to Rs 109. However, aluminium utensils scrap eased by Rs 2 per kilo to Rs 98 from Rs 100.
