Base metals tumbles on global cues

Base metals tumbled at the non-ferrous metal market here today due to hectic stockists offloading driven by declining trend in London Metal Exchange (LME).  

The industrial metals dropped to five month lows at LME on overall commodity decline following concerns of US economy and further monetary tightening in China.

Nickel and tin prices plunged by Rs 20 per kg each to Rs 1,320 and Rs 1,590 from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 1,340 and Rs 1,610.  

Copper scrap heavy dipped by Rs 8 per kg to Rs 452 as against Rs 460 previously.

Copper cable scrap and copper armiture both lost Rs 7 per kg each to Rs 465 and Rs 445 as compared to Rs 472 and Rs 452 yesterday.

 

Copper wire bar declined by Rs 6 per kg to Rs 494, copper sheet cutting by Rs 5 to Rs 442, brass sheet cutting by Rs 4 to Rs 315, copper utensils scrap by Rs 3 to Rs 417, zinc by Rs 2 to Rs 127 and lead softened by a rupee to Rs 126 respectively.
