Base metal prices, led by copper fell up to Rs 5 per kg in the local non-ferrous metals market today on emergence of selling sparked by a weakening trend at the London Metal Exchange.
Marketmen said fresh selling by stockists in tandem with a weakening trend at the London Metal Exchange mainly led to a fall in base metal prices.
Meanwhile, copper for three-month delivery dropped 2 per cent to $6,470, lead decreased by 2.7 per cent to $1,783 and nickel shed 1 per cent to $19,650 metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
Copper wire scrap, copper wire bar and copper mixed scrap were down by Rs 2 each to Rs 357, Rs 376 and Rs 335 and nickel (4x4) lost Rs 5 at Rs 874-988, while lead ingot and lead imported traded lower by Rs two each to Rs 117 and Rs 120 per kg.
