Base metals up on firming global trend

Copper prices today strengthened by up to Rs 2 per kg on the local non-ferrous metal  market today largely on the back of firming global trend.

Pick up in demand from consuming industries also influenced prices, marketmen said.

Copper for three-month delivery added 0.5 per cent to $6,504 and nickel by 0.7 per cent to $18,801 a metric tonne at the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, copper wire scrap, copper wire bar and copper mixed were added another Rs 2 each to Rs 363, Rs 382 and Rs 341 per kg, respectively.

Nickel (4x4) also traded higher by the same margin at Rs 868-982 per kg on firm global cues and increased demand from alloy makers.

Tin ingot 795, zinc ingot 118.00, nickel plate (4x4) 868-982, gun metal scrap 226 bell metal scrap 228, copper wire scrap 363, copper wire bar 382, copper mixed scrap 341.00, Utensil scrap 224, Chadripital 175.

Lead ingot 114, lead imported 117, aluminium ingots 100, sheet cutting 103, aluminium wire scrap 100 and aluminium utensils scrap 100.
