Shares of Bharti Airtel were up 2% at Rs 356 on the Bombay Stock Exchange after the telecom major garnered nearly 50% of the total subscriptions in the month of March 2016.
Mobile phone operators added 5.23 million subscribers in March 2016 of which Bharti Airtel added 2.55 million subscribers, according to a report released by the Cellular Operators Association of India.
With the additions in March, Bharti Airtel's total subscriber base has increased to 251.24 million.
The stock opened at Rs 351 and touched a high of Rs 364. At 12pm, over 2 million shares were traded on both the stock exchanges.
