Bharat Heavy Electrical limited (BHEL) has tanked 9% at Rs 249 after reporting a 7% year-on-year (y-o-y) drop in order inflows at Rs 146,500 crore at the end of December 2011 quarter. The state-owned heavy electrical equipment makers had a order book position of Rs 158,000 crore as on December 2010.
Meanwhile the company has posted a single digit 1.5% y-o-y growth in net profit at Rs 1,433 crore for the quarter ended December 2011, as compared with Rs 1,412 crore in a year ago quarter. Net sales grew 3% at Rs 11,078 crore on y-o-y basis during this period.
A combined 500,000 shares have changed hands on the counter in opening deals on both the exchanges.
