In line with the courses offered by the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE), the Bhubaneswar Stock Exchange (BhSE) on Saturday launched a 3 months certificate course on capital market.
The course ‘basics of capital market’ is expected to help the students, finance professionals and general investors of the capital market. The course is a part of the awareness programme of the Securities and Exchange Board of India which aims at involving more potential investors in share or equity business. It is expected to be a self help tool for the people interested to make a career as intermediaries in securities or capital market.
Best faculty available in the city has been roped in for teaching the students enrolled in the course. This includes professionals from various management institutes, universities, trading practitioners and senior employees of the corporate houses. The stock exchange has got the permission to admit 55 students in the first batch. “The course has been started to create awareness among the students, self help groups (SHGs) and the general investing public about investing in the stock market”, Debaraj Biswal, chief executive officer (CEO), Bhubaneswar Stock Exchange, said. BhSE intends to train at least 2 persons from every block who in can guide the small and the rural investors. Depending on the response , BhSE is planning to launch a diploma course on capital market.
Speaking on the occasion, Samson Maharana, professor and head, department of commerce and MFC, Utkal University said, the financial market can be strong only if the financial system is strong. Since financial market is considered as the backbone of the economy, a strong financial market can spur economic growth in the country. High cost of funds, lack of brands in the financial market and lack of finacial inclusion are the grey areas which need attention for healthy growth of the financial market.
