Black pepper and select spices firm up on good demand

Black pepper prices rose at the spices market here today due to increased offtake from stockists amid higher export demand. Elsewhere, copra edible and copra Kozhikode also firmed up owing to better buying support coupled with lower arrivals.

Meanwhile, copra Rajapur, declined on the back of stockists offloading after its recent surge. Other spices closed unchanged.

Black pepper went up by Rs 5/6 per kilo to Rs 205/221 from Tuesday's closing level of Rs 200/215.

Copra edible Mumbai gained another Rs 50 per quintal to Rs 4,600 from Rs 4,550 and copra office Kozhikode moved up by Rs 25 per quintal to Rs 3,600 as against Rs 3,575 previously.

 

However, copra Rajapur Mumbai dropped by Rs 100 per quintal to Rs 5,900 from Rs 6,000 yesterday.

Following are today's closing rates in rupees, with the previous rates in brackets: 

Black Pepper (per kilo) 205/221 (200/215), ginger bleached (per kilo) 235 (235), ginger unbleached (per kilo) 255 (255), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 3,775 (3,775)

copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 3,600 (3,575), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 5,900 (6,000) and copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 4,600 (4,550)
