Black pepper, chilli rises on stockists buying

Black pepper and chilli prices rose up to Rs 300 per quintal in the national capital today on increased buying by stockists as well as exporters.

Black pepper prices rose by Rs 300 to settle at Rs 21,100-21,200 per quintal.

Red chilli prices also traded higher at Rs 5,100-9,800 against previous closing of Rs 5,000-9,700 per quintal good domestic as well as export demand from Bangladesh.

Traders said sentiments turned better, following rising domestic and export demand and firm trend at futures market.

Following are today's quotations (per quintal):

Ajwain 13,500-18,000, black pepper common 21,100-21,200 betelnut (kg) 98-120, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 700-725 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 800-920.

 

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 850-950, cardamom (colour robin) 925-980, cardamom bold 930-990, cardamom extra (bold) 1050-1,100 and cloves (kg) 300-380.
