Black pepper and red chilli prices rose by up to Rs 500 per quintal in the national capital today on increased buying by stockists and exporters.
Restricted arrivals from producing belts also put pressure on the prices.
Black pepper prices surged by Rs 500 to conclude at Rs 28,000-28,300 per quintal, while red chilli prices moved up by Rs 300 to settle at Rs 10,000-14,500 per quintal.
Traders said sentiments turned better following the rise in domestic and export demand amid a firming trend at futures market, helping pepper and chilli prices to trade higher in the wholesale kirana market here.
