Black pepper and red chilli prices rose by up to Rs 300 per quintal in the national capital today on increased buying by stockists and exporters.

Restricted arrivals from producing belts also put pressure on the prices.

Black pepper prices surged by Rs 300 to conclude at Rs 28,000-28,200 per quintal.

Red chilli prices also rose by Rs 100 to settle at Rs 9,100-13,100 per quintal.

Traders said sentiments turned better following rising domestic and export demand amid a firming trend at futures market, helping pepper and chilli prices to trade higher in the wholesale kirana market here.
