Black pepper rises on robust demand

Prices of black pepper rose in an otherwise steady spices market here today on back of strong buying by stockists and retailers coupled with higher overseas demand. 

Black pepper hardened by Rs 5/7 per kg to Rs 285/305 from last weekend closing level of Rs 278/300.

Following are today's closing rates in Rs with the previous rates in brackets:  

Black pepper (per kg) 285/305 (278/300), ginger bleached (per kg) 170 (170), ginger unbleached (per kg) 185 (185), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 6,350 (6,350)

copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 6,250 (6,250), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 9,300 (9,300) and copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 7,800 (7,800)
