Black pepper prices moved up sharply at spices market here today due to heavy stockist buying on the back of robust export demand amidst low stock positions.
Elsewhere, copra Kozhikode maintained its uptrend owing to steady offtake from millers. Black pepper shot up by Rs 10 per kg to Rs 295/315 from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 285/305.
Copra office Kozhikode firmed up by Rs 50 per quintal to Rs 6,650 from overnight close of Rs 6,600. Meanwhile, other spices closed stable in the absence of worthwhile buying activity.
