The markets remained sideways in the past hour in th'e absence of any fresh news triggers. The benchmark index Sensex is up 133 points at 19,983. The Nifty had added 35 points at 5,994.
The broader markets remain steady with a gain of 1%. The benchmark index continues to underperform at 0.6% for the fourth consecutive day.
The Asian markets continue to trade in the green, extending their gains. Hang Seng is up 0.6% while Nikkei has gained 1.8%. Shanghai Composite, Straits Times, Seoul Composite and Taiwan Weighted too gained between 0.5% - 1%
Among the sectoral indices, FMCG and Auto indices that were up yesterday have today slipped into the red. Realty continues to dominate the chart followed by Consumer Durabls, bankex and Oil & Gas gaining 1% each. Capital Goods index is trading flat at 15,614.
The gainers in the Sensex- 30 stocks are Reliance Communications and Wipro up nearly 3% followed by ONGC, ICICI Bank and Hindalco gaining 2% each.
Hero Honda down nearly 5% continues to lead the Sensex losers list followed by NTPC, JP Associates, Tata Power and Bharti Airtel losing 1% each.
The market breadth continues to be very positive.1974 stocks have advanced while 810 have declined.
