BSE IT index breaks winning streak, slips 2%

The BSE IT index slipped over 2% to end at 2,826.

Infosys ended down nearly 3% at Rs 1,583. TCS declined over 2.5% at Rs 650. Wipro, however, gained 1% at Rs 368. 

Financial Technologies and HCL Technologies were also down around 2% each.

On the other hand, NIIT zoomed 10% to Rs 32.75, and Aptech soared 7.5% to Rs 104.

Moser Baer, Rolta, MphasiS and Oracle Financial gained 2-5% each.

The IT stocks are down today on account of profit taking after rallying for the past six days.

The BSE IT index had surged over 19% to 2,887 on yesterday from 2,423 on April 22.

 

The IT index today opened at 2,882, down 5 points, it soon tumbled to a low of 2,778. The current value of the index is at

2,784, down 3.5%.

Infosys has slumped 4% to Rs 1,565. Wipro has shed around 2.5% to Rs 356, and TCS has declined 2% to Rs 654.

Patni Computers, HCL Technologies and Financial Technologies are down around 2% each.

On the other hand, Aptech has gained over 4.5% to Rs 101.

Tech Mahindra, Moser Baer, Rolta, Mphasis, Oracle and NIIT have added 1-3% each.
