BSE IT index drops 4%; Satyam slumps 6%

The NSE Nifty is down 42 points at 4,120.

The BSE IT index has dropped nearly 4% to 4,027. Satyam has slumped 5.8% to Rs 451. TCS has plunged 4.6% to Rs 829, and Infosys has tumbled 3.8% to Rs 1,737.

Among others - Financial Technologies, i-flex, Moser Baer, NIIT, Rolta and Tech Mahindra are down 1-3% each.

HDFC, Larsen & Toubro, Wipro and Hindustan Unilever have slipped around 3% each to Rs 2,050, Rs 2,454, Rs 418 and Rs 212, respectively.

Jaiprakash Associates and Reliance Infrastructure have declined 2.5% each to Rs 167 and Rs 834, respectively.

ICICI Bank is down over 2% at Rs 603.

 

Ambuja Cements has moved up nearly 2% to Rs 81. Hindalco is up 1% at Rs 155.
