BSE SME market-cap exceeds $1 billion

Total capital raised on platform is Rs 488.45 crore

The total value of all companies listed on the BSE?s small and medium enterprises (SME) platform ? BSE SME - crossed USD 1 billion or Rs 6,020 crore on Friday. Fifty-five companies have been listed on this platform since its inception in March 2012.

"Average market capitalisation per company works out to be more than Rs 100 crore per company, which is similar to main Board companies on BSE. As of date, additional 14 companies are in the process of listing on BSE SME Platform," said a statement from the BSE.

The platform has raised a total of Rs 488.45 crore for the SME sector. Of the 55 companies listed, only 19 are actively traded according to data on the BSE SME website.

 

Rival NSE's SME platform- NSE Emerge - listed its first company in September 2012. Since then 5 companies have been listed on the platform. The companies raised a total of Rs 78.82 crore. The total amount of capital raised through SME platforms has now reached Rs 567.27 crore.
